  • Brief description to Photosmith.

    • Metadata tagger for Lightroom outside of Lightroom.  Originally only a one-way sync but after updates have included two-way syncing.  The main focus is the Keyword tagging that can be done to Lightroom

  • Currently only for the iPad, any chance an Android version is coming?

    • Developed for iPad only

  • Does the plugin work on both PC’s and Mac’s?

    • Yes…works on both systems.  Lightroom is the main program.

  • Walk through how to use it?

    • Based on how photos are entered into the computer or iPad

      • iPad – Out shooting and photos onto the iPad via the camera connection kit or a Wifi card that will automatically upload to the iPad

      • Photos need to be uploaded via the iPad Photos App

      • Back at computer just use the sync function which transfers from the iPad to the computer

    • Import via Lightroom first (back catalog solution)

      • After importing into Lightroom you can sync into Photosmith and at your leisure keyword photos when you have time

  • RAW files?

    • Apple is looking at the underlying jpeg file attached to the image.  Apple does not look at the RAW file.

    • Proxy jpeg workflow – Camera takes photos of both RAW and jpeg files…Photosmith uploads the jpeg files.  At first sync with Lightroom Photosmith will matchup the keyword files to the RAW photos

  • Is Photosmith keeping track of which images I have already brought into the app?  Say I import images from a card and later I shoot more images on that same card.  Will Photosmith remember I already imported some of them?

    • Apple’s photo App manages what is imported and would know which files have been imported.

  • Why would I want this over the Lightroom mobile app, which is free? Keywords!
