Fall photography

  • Know the area you are photography…colors change by area.  Check state color reports such as the USA Fall Foliage Map or the Weather Channel
  • Discussed the Moiré Pattern – an interference pattern created when two grids are overlaid at an angle or when they have slightly different mesh sizes
  • Photographers Ephemeris – a tool for helping plan all types of outdoor photography, particularly landscape and urban scenes.
  • What our eyes see is different than what our camera’s see…dynamic range.  Cameras will show hot spots where our eyes have adjusted.  Avoid taking pictures during peak hours of sun.
  • Photo Review
  • Top Tips for Fall Photography
    • Get to know the area
    • Find compositions
    • Isolation / contrast of the image – helps colors stand out
    • Use a polarizer filter to get rid of reflections
    • Tripod – use a Carbon Fiber Gitzo with a Really Right Stuff ball head
